The answer is no, because lizards are cold-blooded creatures.
Lizards do not have specialized organs for storing body heat like mammals do (fur). Their skin also lacks insulation and they don’t spend time in the sun to generate their own warmth. This means that during winter or when it’s too cool outside, a lizard can die of exposure if it doesn’t find warm shelter.*
“It’s not to say that lizards don’t hibernate at all, because there are some species of lizard in the world that do have a freeze response,” says McGee. “But for most lizards it’s very difficult.”*

Lizards are cold-blooded vertebrates. They do not produce their own body heat, so they depend on the temperature of their environment to keep them warm or cool off as necessary. This means that lizards often slow down and sleep during periods of particularly low temperatures, such as winter in colder climates (even though it’s still technically summer). These periods may even be more pronounced if there is less vegetation available for lizards to hide among. However, this does NOT mean that a lizard will hibernate like mammals do! In fact, some species never enter into these resting phases at all!
