Ants can be a pest, but they’re also very fascinating. Did you know that there are over 12,000 species of ants? That’s more than any other type of animal on earth! In this blog post, we’ll look at 25 pictures and facts about ants. You might just find yourself saying “do you want ants?” in the near future!

Ants can be a pest, but they’re also very fascinating. There are over 12,000 species of ants on earth! In this blog post, we’ll look at 25 pictures and facts about ants. You might just find yourself saying “do you want ants?” in the near future! (link)

Insects outnumber humans by 200 to one according to scientists.

Some ant colonies have millions of members with queens that live up to 30 years old or more. These types of colonies don’t need males as their queen mates once every year for several days with multiple male partners before laying eggs all summer long mentioned sally robertson\ . They do not eat anything during mating season aside from some sugar water mentioned sally robertson\ .

The ants in a colony always have an established caste system. The queen has the longest lifespan and is responsible for laying eggs, then there’s workers who do most of the work like gathering food and taking care of young larvae, finally you’ve got soldiers that defend against invaders.

One type of ant called “weaver ants” create bridges from leaves to make it easier for other members to cross gaps without falling down! These types of bridges even come with railing so they can’t fall off! Weaver ants also build these structures by tying together blades from plants or pieces of animal fur using silk produced by their abdomens as if this wasn’t cool enough, weaver ant colonies are often HUGE and can have thousands of ants in one colony!

There’s a type of ant called “red harvester” that actually DOES harvest seeds. They do this by cutting the plant near its base, then carry it to their nest where they cut it open with their sharp mandibles (or jaws). Then these ants will take all the edible parts like the seed out for themselves leaving behind just an empty shell!

Another type of interesting ant is called “leafcutter.” These types live inside colonies that are made out of leaves. The workers go outside into gardens or fields and collect fresh green leaves which are brought back to be chewed up and eaten so nothing goes wasted. They also use pieces from old leaves as fertilizer to help the garden grow.

There are also some ants that can go on strike! In this case, worker ant will stop collecting food or do any other duties until their queen has been removed from her chambers to make sure she’s not laying eggs and taking resources away from them. If a colony doesn’t have enough workers it may eventually die out.

Some species of ants don’t even need to eat anything at all because they get energy just by breaking down decomposing materials like leaves in soil where there is no oxygen! These types are called “saprophytic” ants which live outside your house (usually under tree stumps) and inside logs going after dead insects too. They break up material with enzymes then use these enzymes to digest it, sucking out the nutrients.

Other types of ants that are very important for people’s health include “myrmecophilous” or “ant loving”, which live in human homes and go after cockroaches and other bugs when you’re not looking. They also do some good by controlling termites!

We all know what an ant is – but have you ever seen photos like these? Let me show them off to you now:

Ants can be found on every continent except Antarctica. The only place they don’t exist is there because it has no native insect population whatsoever. There are so many different species around the world, such as the “Weaver Ants” that live in large colonies and make huge nests out of leaves.

These ants will do pretty much anything to protect their colony, including killing other insects like termites or aphids which can threaten it. They’ll also lay eggs inside a rival’s nest if they have one!

Ant farms are really cool too – as you know from reading them earlier on this blog post 🙂 You put some sugar water into an ant farm with little tunnels and chambers for your ants to go through. The layout is usually designed so that the queen has her own chamber at the bottom where she lays her eggs (and then later dies). Other types of interesting features include circles of different colors around walls; these represent what
