I’ve been an SEO for years and the first time I went to SEOCon in Los Angeles, I immediately understood the scope and scale of the conference and the opportunity to learn. It was really cool to see how many topics were covered for SEOs, from how to best optimize articles to the specific tactics needed to get links. There was even a lot of stuff that was relevant to businesses, and I had a great time talking to people about how to make sure their brand is well represented online.
I came away from this conference with a number of new insights that were important to me. The first was that SEOs need to be well informed about what’s going on in the world of the internet and how to act in order to optimize themselves. The second was that SEOs need to communicate with their clients to make sure that they all know exactly what they should be doing to make their site stand out.
The third and most important thing I learned was that social media is a huge part of SEO. If you’re not using it, then you’re missing out on a huge part of what it’s all about. My friend, who spent a lot of time at SEO conferences in 2014 and 2015, told me that social media is the biggest part of SEO that hasn’t been talked about enough.
To make sure you get the most out of your SEO efforts, you need to make sure you’re engaging with your clients. The best way to do this is to connect with them, and it doesn’t have to be face-to-face. There are a lot of great tools out there that allow you to communicate on a digital level, and of course email is still the best. Another great way to interact with your clients is through video.
