Round Top is a historic village in Greene County, New York. The first settler was Josiah Beckwith from Connecticut who arrived in 1808 and built the house that now serves as the Village Hall on Route 23 just north of Roundtop Mountain. In 1802 he purchased 14 acres including what is now known as “Beckwith Park.”
The population peaked at about 400 during the mid-19th century but has since declined to less than 100 residents (2013). It still retains its rural character with many old farms and homes unoccupied due to lack of an adequate water supply or other reasons. There are five churches which include both Methodist Episcopal Church buildings: one dating back to 1905; two churches were destroyed by fire in 1949 –

Round Top is a hidden gem in upstate New York. Nestled within the Catskill Mountains, this quaint village has been home to generations of families for over 200 years and we are honored to be part of that tradition as an innkeeper with a small farm on the outskirts of town. It was here amongst the rolling hills, sparkling lakes, and tall trees where I learned about life’s simple pleasures: good food shared among friends; colorful autumn leaves falling from limbs like raindrops; crisp winter mornings waking us gently out of bed into frosty air…every day offers something new-a different experience or lesson taught by those around me who have shown such generosity when it comes to sharing their time, knowledge and wisdom.
Round Top is a quaint village with an old-fashioned charm and the best baked goods around. It’s perfect for families, couples, or just about anyone who wants to get away from it all but still enjoy food that tastes good and makes you feel like you’re at home.
The first thing most people notice when they enter Round Top are the homemade strawberry pies sitting on tables outside of every store in town. They stack up neatly by size: single, double (with one thick crust) and triple (with two thin layers). If I had to choose my favorite pie here – which would be impossible because I love them all equally – it would have to be their pumpkin cheesecake apple crumble muffin cake picatta tartlet
On the outskirts of town, visitors can find Pickle Hill Farms, home to some of the world’s best cider donuts. These doughnuts are fried in a light coating and topped with cinnamon sugar or honey butter for an irresistible treat that’ll make you want more. Round Top is also home to many farms perfect for animal lovers; you could go on horseback riding tours at Duchow Farm & Cider Mill or visit Billingsley’s Livestock Market where they sell farm fresh eggs daily, just one example of how this village provides its residents with everything they need right there within walking distance!
