I know it may sound like a catch-all term, but it’s a term I use a lot, especially when I’m describing my work. I spend a lot of time talking about my work, my ideas, and my perspective in the world. I work in a lot of different industries, from software, to design, to branding, to technology, to marketing.
The integrationist is a marketing-type person who seeks to get products and services into as many hands as possible. The integrationist doesn’t necessarily see these products and services as something exclusive, but rather as something that can be integrated with other services and products.
A marketing-type person. I don’t see myself as a technology integrationist. I do see myself as part of the team of marketers that do marketing in all its forms. Although I work in marketing, I do a lot of work on other types of marketing, including product development. In marketing I try to put my marketing perspective (or at least my knowledge and experience in marketing) into the product I develop.
For example, I was in the process of developing the ZERO-TO-ONE program when I was asked to assess the effectiveness of various marketing strategies. I ended up developing a number of products during my time in the job and the way I do marketing is by using the results of my assessments to help me make changes to the marketing strategies I use.
It’s a very important aspect of product development because it helps you define what you want to accomplish in the marketing initiative you’ve outlined. For example, if you were to ask me right now, “What is your biggest marketing mistake of all time?” I would tell you, “I’ve been marketing for over a decade to the public and I’ve never gotten a raise. It’s frustrating to hear that you should have gotten a raise when you’ve been at the company for five years.
It’s important to remember that marketing is a skill that takes years of practice to develop. As such, there are very specific things that you can focus on and only focus on those things that are going to bring you the most return on investment.
