This list is a compilation of the Top 10 most distinguished alumni from the University of Virginia. The university was established in 1819 and has since grown to be one of the top ranked public universities in America. It’s also considered by many to be one of the best schools for undergraduate studies. This list includes some notable graduates such as Hillary Clinton, Stephen Colbert, and Tina Fey.

US President and Founder of the Clinton Foundation, Bill Clinton

Comedian and Host of The Colbert Report on Comedy Central Stephen Colbert

Tina Fey graduated with a degree in drama from UVA’s Department of Drama before going on to become one of America’s most celebrated comedians. She was responsible for NBC’s 30 Rock (2006–2013) as well as creating Netflix comedy series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (2015-) which she also starred in alongside her old college friend Carol Kane.

Jon Stewart: Graduated from University College at UVA in 1984. He went onto host the Daily Show until 2015 when he retired after 18 years on air. Stewart hosted over 2000 episodes during his time hosting and is widely considered one of the most influential political satirists in America.

Some other famous names who attended UVA’s Charlottesville campus were Tina Fey with a degree in drama before becoming one of America’s most celebrated comedians; Carol Kane was her old college friend that played alongside her on Netflix comedy series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt; comedian Jay Leno studied at UVA for two years but did not graduate due to financial reasons.

The University of Virginia boasts a number of famous and distinguished alumni. A few notable names are:

George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Monroe, John Tyler, Woodrow Wilson, Frank Lloyd Wright (architect), Ralph Lauren (fashion designer), Terry McAuliffe (governor) and Steve Martin (actor/comedian). These graduates represent the best in academia and politics–and show what an education at UVA can lead to.

George Washington was our first President; his tenure is considered one of the most successful in American history because he presided over independence from British rule. He also founded many key institutions such as the United States Military Academy at West Point and The Bank of New York Mellon.

Thomas Jefferson

Virginia is home to one of the best-known university systems in the country. It’s high on rankings lists and, for good reason: it’s challenging academically, socially diverse and located near Washington DC. Even if you don’t attend UVA there are plenty of reasons why a degree from this prestigious institution will attract opportunities later in life – even more so than other schools with similar reputations (like Yale).

The list below includes our top ten most distinguished alumni across various fields. They have all shown exemplary work beyond their degrees or gone “above and beyond” as they say at UVA. Want to know which notable alums call Charlottesville home? Scroll down!

University of Virginia has produced many notable alumni: from 19th century politician Henry A. Wise (class 1851) to 20th century financier Michael Bloomberg (class 1966). This is by no means an exhaustive list–for example, famous UVA grads range from world war II general George S. Patton Jr. to actor Rob Riggle–but it’s got more than enough names.
