Are male cats supposed to have nipples?
Yes, but they’re not useless. The males do produce milk for their kittens and the breasts are there just in case he hasn’t been able to find a mate or if his female partner is unable to nurse him. If you see your kitty licking at her chest, she’s probably nursing herself because she can’t get food from mommy cat. It may also be that what we think of as “nipple” behavior could really be marking territory–cats rub up against objects to leave their scent on them when they want it marked as belonging to them only. In this case, the act would serve no purpose without making contact with an object so close inspection might reveal signs of spraying urine
