Soul Calibur 6 is out and it’s time to find out who the new baddies are. The game introduces 25 characters with a variety of fighting styles, weapons, and special moves. Some are veterans from the series while others are newcomers that have never appeared in any previous Soul Calibur games. Regardless of their pedigree, each one has something unique to offer players looking for an intense fight on the couch or online against other competitors. We’ve narrowed down our list to 11 characters you should keep your eye out for during your matches if you want a competitive edge!
Kilik Birthday: July 20th, 11545 (age 37)
Weapon: Greatsword of Kali-Yuga
Fighting Style: Temple sword style. Utilizes strong long range attacks and combos that can hit from as far away as the other side of the screen. Uses both sides of his body in combat to attack or defend against opponents. Has a variety of moves with good reach making him an effective counter fighter at close range like parrying or deflecting incoming blows while also being able to move back into mid range quickly for follow up strikes. His fighting style will feel familiar for those who have played Cassandra’s character before but Kilik is much more versa
The game also adds two guest characters: Geralt of Rivia from the Witcher series, and Yoda from Star Wars.

I’m not going to lie: I was expecting a lot more out of Soulcalibur VI than what we’ve been given so far. The roster is too small for my liking with only twenty-four fighters total; it doesn’t really feel all that much different in terms of gameplay style either – but hey! It’s better than nothing at least! And honestly? A new Soulcalibur always feels like Christmas morning no matter how many times they release one every generation or something similar to that… More games need this level of dedication towards them nowadays, in my opinion.
Quick List of Fighters:
Kilik, Mitsurugi, Ivy, Sophitia, Vader and Yoda are all confirmed to return from previous games in the series. Old favorites such as Siegfried and Nightmare will be making a comeback too! Newcomers include Zasalamel; Maxi (the newest addition), Grøh – who’s been teased for quite some time now – Geralt from The Witcher III: Wild Hunt and Star Wars’ own Jedi Master himself: Yoda. There’s also Darth Vader’s secret apprentice… but we’re not sure on her name just yet. This is Soulcalibur VI after all so you never know what might happen next…
New gameplay changes that are being implemented:
New mechanics are in the form of Soul Charge (a power up that allows you to do a more powerful attack), Guard Impact and Reversal Edge. The latter two allow for new strategies when it comes to battle, while Soul Charge is an interesting way of powering your fighter up without sacrificing any defense or offense. It’s also worth noting that all characters will have access to this feature!

As I mentioned before, Soul Calibur is a fighting game that’s been around for nearly two decades. This means fans know it inside and out—there are plenty of nuances to the characters and gameplay systems which even the most hardcore players will find interesting and be able to discuss with passion. Speaking from personal experience, there was one particular character who caught my attention in this latest installment: Nightmare–or as he more commonly goes by now, Siegfried.
Siegfried is finally back after being absent since Soul Edge! He’s not just some clone or retextured Sophitia (though she also returns). In SCVI his moveset has been expanded considerably with new attacks such as “Turbulence”
