I attended the Wisconsin farm technology days which was a great event. The organizers of this event were very generous with all the exhibitors, but mostly just giving them the space to sell their wares. I went to the farm technology days with my wife, son, and daughter and we had a great time. The exhibit hall was full of the most amazing, innovative, and beautiful technology projects being showcased in the past few years.
The event was well organized, well staffed, and it was well worth it. I think the best part of the event was seeing all the vendors as they walked by us. Many of the projects were quite unique, but the event really did shine when a vendor showed the latest in their technology.
I was a bit confused when I saw the latest in my video card, so I went to the video card vendor and asked them to explain the reason for its high price. They told me that it was because it wouldn’t fit in my computer and that I should try to find something else. I went home and looked online and there was a much more affordable version on the market.
Video card prices are ridiculously expensive in the US, but they are not the only item on the list. The event really wasn’t about technology, but it was pretty interesting when someone did a quick demo of their newest toy. For the first time I was able to see the entire motherboard of the computer they were using but didn’t have to deal with any other components. The newest chipsets, power supplies, and fan controllers were all demonstrated inside of this one computer, which was quite cool.
I have to say I was a little confused by the amount of chips and other equipment that could fit inside that computer. I assumed that it would be a simple box with a few circuits and a nice motherboard inside, but instead it was pretty cool.
The new motherboard is called the Intel i7-3770K and it’s an 8-core processor, quad-channel memory, and four USB 3.1 ports. This is the first computer that Intel has made in the US from the original processor, so our understanding is that it won’t be shipping to the US anytime soon.
It will be available to purchase on the Intel website on November 1st. It’s definitely nice to see that Intel is willing to put some effort into a computer that is already on the market, especially an 8-core chip with a lot of integrated graphics. The price tag is also quite reasonable for what you get.
I will say our review unit has a lot of issues, but I am still interested in buying one even though it has a lot of issues. It is clearly made by a company that loves to improve on every aspect of their products including the internal components. The motherboard is a bit on the pricey side, but it still has a lot of features and I am sure the performance can be quite good.
The wisconsin farm is an 8-core chip that powers the new farm units that are about to debut at the 2017 iFEST convention in Seattle. The chip also powers a new model of 4’10” long-traveling, high performance tractor called the iFEST XL, which will be at this year’s event. The price is certainly reasonable for what you get.
What I am not sure about is the product itself. I guess that the wisconsin farm might be a power supply for something else. I will try to find out. Also I am not sure if these will be available at the 2017 iFEST convention.
